Benjamin A. Goff, Executive Vice President: As the Executive Vice President of Brown & Brown of Ohio, Ben manages the office’s growth, mentors teammates in their personal development, and oversees the performance of the entire Ohio team. In addition to these responsibilities, Ben continues to service a select group of customers where his primary role relates to contract negotiation, plan design, and creating long-term strategies for their benefits offerings. Ben joined the Brown & Brown team when his firm, Great Lakes Risk Management, was acquired in 2008.

Ben earned his Bachelor's of Science degree from Bowling Green State University with a specialization in Insurance and Risk Management. After graduating, Ben co-founded Great Lakes Risk Management in 1986, which grew to become the largest benefits-only brokerage firm in the greater Toledo area. Over the course of his 30+ year career in Employee Benefits, Ben has also served as an advisor to health insurers, governmental agencies, Brown & Brown on a corporate level, and to various members of the media. He holds his Ohio Life and Health insurance licenses as well as licenses in over 20 other states within the U.S.

When he is out of the office, Ben enjoys being in the outdoors, either fly fishing or deer hunting. He is actively involved with Bowling Green’s College of Business and sits on the Department of Insurance Advisory Committee. Above all else, Ben loves spending time with his wife Jackie, his children and grandchildren.

James Raymond Bailey, MBA, Account Executive: James joined the Brown & Brown of Ohio team in August of 2014. In his role as an Employee Benefits Account Executive, he assists employers in designing and managing their employee benefit plans. He has been recognized within Brown & Brown for his attention to detail and support to all new and existing clients.

Before he became a part of the Brown & Brown Team, James has worked in a multitude of Human Resources type positions in the UK, Germany and even Australia. Through this variety of experience, he has become well-versed in HR and Benefits on an international level.

James completed his undergraduate work at Nottingham Trent University in his home country of England. He then came to northwest Ohio and earned his MBA with a Finance focus from Bowling Green State University. He also holds his Ohio Life and Health insurance licenses and has earned the Certificate of Global Benefits Management from the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans.

James currently resides in Toledo, OH. He enjoys playing soccer, cricket and squash in his free time. He is also an active participant with EPIC Toledo, the Epilepsy Center of NOW, the Toledo Children’s Hospital and the BGSU College of Business Alumni Board.


Toledo 18Angela Krueger, Benefits Department Manager: Angela is responsible for the overall operations of the team, but she also takes on a variety of other roles for our clients. Once a renewal decision has been made, she is responsible for all contracting and team actions, including development of education pieces, collecting employee enrollment information, and submission to the insurers. If a teammate has difficulty working with a vendor on a specific issue, Angela will step in to help get the problem resolved. Additionally, Angela has taken on the role of Team Resources leader in our office, handling recruitment, teammate development, other HR-related functions for the agency.

Angela graduated from BGSU in 2004, with a degree in Middle Childhood Education. She also took coursework in Visual Communication Technology. Coming from a third-generation business owning family, she found herself returning to the business world when she began working for Great Lakes Risk Management in 2005. Since then, Angela has worked in every position in our department, other than direct sales, and has developed the skills necessary to lead the team. She has also been invited to speak at various events, including regional benefits conferences and BGSU College of Business Administration events. Angela holds her Ohio Life and Health licenses.


Damien updatedDamien Neill, Financial Analyst: Damien works with your numbers, both from a renewal and reporting standpoint. In addition to sending out RFPs, creating your Annual Coverage Review documents, and running your reports and plan analysis, he also is the expert on Variable Hour Employee Tracking, 6055 and 6056 reporting, PCORI fees, and other reporting related to the Affordable Care Act.

Damien graduated from Bowling Green State University with a degree in Marketing and Supply Chain Management. While a student, he was the President of FalcoLytics, a marketing research organization that provided statistical analysis to staff and students at BGSU. Now, in addition to holding his Ohio Health and Life Insurance licenses, he is taking coursework to become a certified Actuary. Once he completes his coursework and exams, we will be able to offer on-site actuarial calculations and certificates for your employee benefit plans.


Toledo 14• Eric Nash, Technology & Marketing Specialist: Eric joined the team as an intern from Bowling Green State University and has since joined the team as a Marketing Specialist, working side-by-side with Damien, James and Ben.  Eric is extremely skilled in analytics and takes the lead on all reporting needs here in the office.

Eric graduated in May, 2017, with a degree in Business Administration and a specialization in Supply Chain Management and Applied Economics.  He was consistently been on the Dean’s List, a member of the National Honors Society, and has participated in the BGSU Economics Club, Falcon Fanatics, and Dance for a Chance charity. Eric now also holds his Ohio Life and Health licenses.


Toledo 2• Alyssa Norrod, Account Manager: Alyssa was initially hired as an assistant in the Member Services Department, helping Pam work with member-related issues. However, with her outstanding customer service skills, follow up, and accuracy, she now serves as a Service Coordinator role for a dedicated group of clients, with a specialization in Member Services.  If at any time you are unsure of who to contact at Brown & Brown, you may send your inquiries to her. Even if Alyssa is not the best person to address your concern, she will take responsibility of the action and work with our team to track it through to completion.  

Alyssa began her career with Brown & Brown in 2015, after spending several years in retail management. She graduated from Ohio University with a degree in Sports Communications. While in college, she was an active member with PRSSA, ImPRessions (student-run PR firm), and Alpha Omicron Pi. Alyssa served as Vice President of Communications for her sorority, where she managed community outreach events and assisted her chapter with new membership goals. Alyssa holds her Ohio Life and Health licenses.



• Devon Shirey, MBA Account Manager: Devon prefers to be called “Dee” and is originally from Calgary, Alberta Canada. She came to the US to pursue a Master’s Degree in music performance; however, during her schooling, Dee decided that she didn’t want to make a career of music. After completing her first Master’s Degree, she decided to apply for BGSU’s MBA program, specializing in Finance. Dee graduated at the head of her class and transitioned to the financial sector.

Before coming to Brown & Brown, Dee was a Loan Operations Specialist. In addition to processing loan tasks, she oversaw improvement of business processes, maintaining compliance with State and Federal banking regulations, auditing, and analyzing compliance and financials. Additionally, Dee has served as an adjunct professor for the College of Business at BGSU. Ultimately, Dee decided that Employee Benefits/Brown & Brown was a better fit for her and joined us in July of this year. In her time with us this summer, Dee has completed our internal training and onboarding courses, and earned her Ohio Life and Health licenses.

Over the next six months, Dee will be working closely with the rest of the team on renewal, open enrollment, claims, and enrollment issues as an Account Manager in training. In 2019, she will become the dedicated operational and contracting manager for a number of our clients.


Dillan vs 1 resized• Dillan Foust, Service Coordinator: Dillan has spent the last 7 years working for a tax preparation company. He started in middle school doing basic office duties for his family’s office, but he slowly learned the ins and outs of taxes. A few years starting full time with his family, Dillan had the opportunity to become the manager of his office and extend his services to 15 others across Northwest and Central Ohio. However, after a few years of managing, Dillan decided he needed a change of pace and that Brown & Brown was a better fit.

While working in tax preparation, Dillan assisted clients with any issues or questions they may have had on their tax returns. Dillan brings an understanding and specialization in the tax implications of Health Savings Accounts, Flexible Spending Accounts, and certain aspects of the Affordable Care Act to the Brown & Brown team. He will be working with Becky to service you and your employees with any questions regarding your plan and the potential tax implications it may have. Dillan is excited to be doing what he loves; helping people solve the issue they may have.

Outside of the office, Dillan loves playing and watching any sport that is available to him. Over the past few years he has volunteered in helping coach his local wrestling team in Van Wert, Ohio.


Toledo 9Amy Musial, Sr. Client Support Specialist: Amy’s primary functions are to help with the day to day running of your plan. If you choose to handle all of your own enrollment and eligibility processing, Amy is available to help you with questions on qualified events, or to assist with billing corrections. If you choose to have us help you with these items, Amy will be the person working hand-in-hand with your administrative team to get people on and off your plans.

Amy began working for Great Lakes Risk Management in 2005. After a brief hiatus when Great Lakes Risk Management was sold to Brown & Brown, she returned again in 2009. Amy has over ten years of experience with enrollment and eligibility. She also holds her Ohio Life and Health licenses.


Toledo 13• Keia McCarver, Enrollment Services LeaderAs our Enrollment Services Leader, Keia takes the lead on all enrollment services tasks and escalated enrollment issues for our clients’ employees. Along with this, she manages the workflow of our EDI feeds, working towards a consistent stream of information from our carriers to our clients. Additional responsibilities include educating clients on enrollment protocol, eligibility rules, and qualifying life events.

Prior to her current role, Keia was our Benefits Team Assistant when she joined the Brown & Brown team in March 2017. Before becoming a part of our team, she had graduated from Bowling Green State University with a degree in Business Management focusing on Human Resources. Post graduation, Keia was a recruiting specialist for large retail companies. Currently, she holds her Ohio Life and Health Licenses and is pursuing her Masters in Human Resources.

Outside the office, you can find Keia either trying new foods and restaurants, working on hard on her fitness goals, or playing board games with her family. Her ideal getaway is a long weekend in Chicago.


Toledo 7• Pam Simrell, CCWS, Wellness Consultant: Pam has been with the Brown & Brown Team for the past 5 years and in the employee benefits arena for the past 17. Pam has recently transitioned into a more focused and specialized role as our Wellness Consultant. In this role, she primarily offers her knowledge to the design and implementation of select wellness plans. Additionally, she leads educational campaigns to assist groups in better understanding and utilizing the different parts of their benefit plans. Along with these campaigns, Pam will lead employee meetings to explain the details of how a benefits plan works for a group. Above all else, Pam is a resource to our internal team for wellness discussions and the more advanced issues any employees may have.

Previously, she was our Client Services Leader where she oversaw the rest of the service team as they responded to plan member inquiries. Before joining the Brown & Brown team, she had worked in the medical field for many years as an Assistant Office Manager for a large physician practice in West Toledo. Additionally, Pam is a Certified Corporate Wellness Specialist CCWS and holds her Ohio Life and Health Licenses.

In her consultant role, Pam is now semi-retired and is taking more time to spend with her family. She plans to travel as much as possible and volunteer at her church and around her community.
