Executive Vice President
As the Executive Vice President of Brown & Brown of Ohio, Ben manages the office’s growth, is a mentor in our teammates’ personal development, and oversees the performance of the entire Ohio team. In addition to these responsibilities, Ben continues to service a select group of clients where his primary role relates to contract negotiation, plan design, and creating long-term strategies for their benefits offerings. Ben joined the Brown & Brown Team when his firm, Great Lakes Risk Management, was acquired in 2008.
Prior to joining Brown & Brown, Ben earned his Bachelor's of Science degree from Bowling Green State University with a specialization in Insurance and Risk Management. After graduating, Ben co-founded Great Lakes Risk Management in 1986, which grew to become the largest benefits-only brokerage firm in the greater Toledo area. Over the course of his 30+ year career in Employee Benefits, Ben has also served as an advisor to health insurers, governmental agencies, Brown & Brown on a corporate level, and to various members of the media. He holds his Ohio Life and Health insurance licenses as well as licenses in over 20 other states within the U.S.
Ben stays actively involved with Bowling Green’s College of Business and sits on the Department of Insurance Advisory Committee. Outside of his passion for business, Ben enjoys fly fishing in scenic parts of the US and Canada, and spending time with his family.
Property & Casualty Team Lead
As the Property & Casualty Team Leader, Amy is responsible for this team’s performance, meaning not only financially, but also in client satisfaction. Specifically, she has a direct hand in duties that include client education, supporting sales activities, staying informed of industry trends, and continuing to service her own book of business. Amy’s focus is on guiding the team through new opportunities and working on tough challenges with enthusiasm.
Prior to leading the Property & Casualty Team, Amy graduated from Bowling Green State University with a BSBA Specialized in Sales & Services Marketing. Shortly after, she joined the Brown & Brown team in 2015 as a Commercial Risk Advisor where she focused on prospecting new clients and building relationships. Coming from a fourth-generation family in agribusiness, Amy specialized in assisting clients in the same industry.
Outside the office, she has served as a member of both EPIC Toledo and the Center for Innovative Food Technology. Additionally, as a board member of the Wood County Farm Bureau, she has led her county to be recognized in the top 25 of the nation.
Sr. Employee Benefits Account Manager / Operations Lead
As one of our Account Managers, Alyssa is responsible for managing the annual events for a specific group of clients, including contracting, open enrollment, wellness actions, and renewals. Additionally, she handles high level member issues, helps the team with internal procedure development, and other daily plan administration.
After earning her degree in Communications from Ohio University, Alyssa worked as a Retail Manager where she led a team of over 15. She joined our team as an Assistant to Members Services, but with her aptitude for customer service and communication skills, she quickly transitioned into her current role. Additionally, she has taken on the role of our internal Insurance Operations liaison.
Outside the office, Alyssa enjoys diving into a good professional development book.
Sr. Employee Benefits Account Manager / Compliance Lead
As one of our Employee Benefits Account Managers, Dee is responsible for managing the annual events for a specific group of clients, including contracting, open enrollment, wellness actions, renewals and reporting. She also conducts educational meetings for both employers and employees covering topics ranging across enrollment, engagement, compliance, and administration. Dee’s educational approach not only answers our customers’ questions, but also informs them of topics they may not have been aware of before.
Originally from Calgary, Alberta, Dee came to Ohio and earned both her MBA in Finance and MMus in Performance from Bowling Green State University (BGSU). Upon graduation, she served as an adjunct professor with BGSU and worked in the Operations Department of a local bank, where she was responsible for maintaining state and federal regulations. Additionally, she has taken on the role of our Employee Benefits Compliance Lead. Dee is currently pursuing her Certified Employee Benefit Specialist designation.
Outside the office, Dee and her husband share an enthusiasm for fitness, specifically Iron Man races and weightlifting.
Employee Benefits Account Executive / Sales Leader
In his role, James assists employers in designing and managing their employee benefit plans. By using benchmarking data and a consultative approach, James bridges the gap between business owners’ goals and what their plans provide. His unique perspective to the U.S. Health and Welfare space uses his international business experience to find operational excellence and best practices for all his clients. His approach has earned him multiple recognitions within Brown & Brown.
Originally from the United Kingdom, James came to Northwest Ohio to study finance at Bowling Green State University, earning his Master’s of Business Administration. Prior to this, James had worked in Human Resources related positions in the UK, Germany and Australia. He is also certified in International Employee Benefits. Before starting his role as an Account Executive in 2015, James participated in intensive training, learning from our Executive Vice President, Ben Goff, and other Employee Benefits veterans within Brown & Brown.
Outside the office, James is a dedicated dad and husband. He also takes pride in being able to give back to his community and is actively involved with Promedica’s Metro Foundation, EPIC Toledo and the BGSU Young Alumni Board.
Brand & Technology Leader
As our Brand & Technology Leader, Jaron is responsible for a variety of projects in both areas. His branding responsibilities include designing presentation materials, coordinating local outreach, and managing our digital presence. Additionally, his role in technology includes managing our CRM platforms, maintaining our technology infrastructure and working with our national IT team to ensure we are running efficiently. Additionally, Jaron has consulted on several regional and national Brown & Brown branding projects.
Jaron graduated from Bowling Green State University with his Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Specializing in Marketing. He originally joined the Property & Casualty Team and after showing initiative in other areas, a marketing/technology coordinator position was created to provide a solution for a need in both areas. Over the years, this position has evolved as more needs were identified, and most recently this has earned Jaron the office’s MVP award for 2020.
Outside the office, Jaron enjoys writing, cooking and assisting with a local high school drumline.
